Since 2023, we’ve introduced an annual theme to complement our regular curriculum. These themes focus on key aspects of Islamic history, with a special emphasis on its local significance.

In 2023, the theme wasThe Entry of Islam to South Africa”, where we explored the arrival of early Muslims in the Cape and their contributions to society. For 2024, the theme was “The Entry of Islam to Natal”, highlighting the pioneers of Islam in the region and the lessons their efforts teach us today.

The purpose of these themes is to encourage gratitude for the rich Islamic heritage and infrastructure we benefit from and to remind us of our responsibility to continue this mission.

The themes were brought to life at our Year-End Jalsah, through learners presentations focusing on the key personalities and lessons from these eras.

Additionally, three Jumu’ah talks were dedicated to reflecting on the lives, contributions, and establishments of these early Muslims.

We hope you will benefit from the content shared here and join us in appreciating and building upon the legacy of Islam in South Africa.
